Watching Rally Turkey was an intense experience, seeing the massive disappointment on so many Rally drivers was not something I’ve seen at this level before, two of the WRC championship contenders being out of the fight was quite a surprise. Still, it looks as though Ott Tanak may have a chance of winning the Championship this year, I’ll be rooting for him, however, my guess is that Thierry Neuville will be the victor this year but I’m more than happy to be wrong.
There really is something great about what these cars can do, it makes me want to waste my time and money buying my own car and homologating it for Rally, of course naturally it wouldn’t be anything special, we’re talking N/A and possibly FWD, maybe I’d get a late 90’s Toyota Corolla, hopefully with the 4AFE engine, that engine is a pretty great all-rounder and makes 110 (when it came out) horsepower, they go for about 2,000 dollars, that may be a little steep for someone like me but we’ll have to see…
David Holder is a proper kiwi with a great sense of humor and overall charm, he is a new contender in the JWRC with a 1 litre Ford Fiesta making approx. 180hp, while he is yet to have a breakthrough he managed to win the NZRC championship in 2016 in Hayden Paddon’s old Mitsubishi Evolution.
For him to better learn left-hand drive cars he bought a pretty meaty FWD car, and by meaty I mean ugly…maybe I should get that instead 😂
